This policy describes how the Find My Car mobile application handles information.
Summary
Find My Car does not require an account, does not include an analytics SDK, does not use a cloud
parking-history service, and does not sell personal information. The app is free to download and is
supported by advertising served through Google AdMob; a one-time in-app purchase removes all ads.
Information stored on the device
The app stores the following data in its private application storage when you use the relevant
features:
precise parking coordinates, location accuracy, and save time;
an address returned by the device geocoding provider;
an optional parking note and photo;
an optional reminder time;
app preferences;
when Auto Park is enabled, the selected paired device name and identifier; and
up to 30 optional parking-history entries.
This information is used only to provide the app's parking-location features. You can clear an
active spot and parking history in the app. Android normally removes the app's private data when the
app is uninstalled.
Information transmitted off the device
The app transmits limited information only to provide features you request:
Precise coordinates may be processed ephemerally by the device's geocoding provider to convert
a location into an address.
A map bounding area centered on the selected coordinates is sent to OpenStreetMap when the
in-app map is rendered. Ordinary network metadata, such as IP address and user agent, is also
visible to the map provider.
If you choose Satellite view and accept its first-use notice, the visible map area is sent to
Esri World Imagery. Ordinary network metadata, such as IP address and user agent, is also
visible to Esri.
If you choose Navigate, the parking destination is sent to the maps app or website opened by
Android.
If you choose Share, the parking location, optional note, and map link are sent only to the
destination you select in Android's share sheet.
Unless you have bought the ad-free upgrade, ad requests and the information described under
Advertising are sent to Google when an ad is shown.
Find My Car displays banner ads and, occasionally, a full-screen ad after you clear a saved
parking spot. Ads are served by the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob).
To request, frequency-cap, and measure ads, the SDK may access this device's advertising ID and
the approximate region implied by the device IP address, and may collect the diagnostic and
device information described in Google's policies.
The SDK is not given your saved parking coordinates, address, note, photo, reminder, or parking
history.
Where required by law, a Google User Messaging Platform consent form is shown before
personalized ads are requested. You can reopen that form at any time from Settings, and you can
reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in Android Settings.
The one-time "Remove ads" purchase is processed by Google Play. Google Play handles payment and
receives the information needed to complete it. Find My Car receives only whether the purchase exists
for the Google account signed in on the device, and stores that answer on the device so ads stay off
while offline. The app never sees or stores payment card details.
Permissions
Precise and approximate location: used to save and display the parking location
and calculate distance to the car.
Background location: used only when you enable Auto Park, so the app can save
after your selected car disconnects while the app is not visible.
Nearby devices: used only when you enable Auto Park, to list paired devices and
recognize your selected car's Bluetooth disconnection.
Camera: used only when you choose to attach a photo to the current parking
spot.
Notifications: used to confirm an automatic parking save and to show parking
reminders you set.
Internet and network state: used to load the map, perform provider-backed
geocoding, request ads, verify purchases, and open web navigation links.
Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): used by
the Google Mobile Ads SDK to deliver and frequency-cap ads. Removing ads with the in-app
purchase stops all ad requests.
Permission access can be changed at any time in Android Settings. Core features may not function if
their required permission is denied.
Data retention and deletion
The active parking spot remains until you clear or replace it. History remains until you clear it,
disable history for future spots, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. A parking photo is
deleted when its active spot is cleared or replaced. Device-local data cannot be retrieved or deleted
remotely because the app has no account or cloud parking-history service.
Children
Find My Car is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does
not knowingly collect personal information from children, and its ad requests are tagged as not
child-directed.
Security
Device-local data is stored in Android's private application storage. Network requests use HTTPS.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the app's features or legal requirements change. The effective date
at the top will be updated when changes are material.
